I'm in bliss whenever I shoot weddings because I get to spend time and meet with beautiful and
amazing families. Paul and Rakhee's wedding at the Okanagan Valley, in Kelowna, British Columbia was no different. Their entire Sikh wedding ceremony was eventful, vibrant and full of life!
It all starts with the Maiyan ceremony for both the bride and groom.
I think people took it to heart when they heard Paul exclaim --- "Game on!"
And it was really game on. Oh, Paul.
Looks like Paul doesn't really mind.
The Sangeet night went so well. It was held at the Hillcrest Farms. Getting there, we were welcomed by this lovely setup and breathtaking view as you can see downtown Kelowna from the top.
And even with the haze from the forest fires, there's no stopping this momentous event from happening.
Paul and Rakhee looking as amazing.
And the party started with the Jagoo.
When Malkit Singh came to sing happy songs, everyone went crazy. I don't think I can sing and dance for two straight hours. It was a phenomenal performance. Hey Jamalo!
And they really went for it.
The partying continued til the wee hours of the morning.
We woke up early for the wedding day. Paul had to have his turban wrapped as part of the early morning ritual prior to his wedding.
Rakhee looked absolutely breathtaking. And her wardrobe isn't complete yet. Sunita from senstudios doing what she does best.
Rakhee being prepped by her sister.
Paul and Rakhee looking very elegant. Rakhee's ivory colored lehenga perfectly matches Paul's Salmon pink colored turban.
As customary, the bride arrives at the temple earlier, where she goes into hiding. She cannot be seen by the groom until after she sits beside him at the temple.
Paul arrives at the temple, on a horse.
It wasn't so long until the guests started pouring in.
Paul is ready. He entered the temple showing confidence and calm. From what I know he can't wait for this day to come.
And she has arrived.
To say that Rakhee looked breathtaking is a total understatement. Paul is in awe. Reading his mind, he says "YASSSSSSSSS!!!"
A traditional sikh wedding wouldn't be complete without the laavaan. This is when the couple walks circling the Guru while the laav is sung, four times.
Let's give a toast to the newly weds!
Luncheon was served at this this amazing location, Summerhill Pyramid Winery.
And the day isn't over yet to celebrate this wonderful occasion. Had a few hours of rest at the hotel, then shortly went to Kelowna Downtown Marina for the boat cruise.
I just didn't feel like bragging, but I own these houses in my dreams.
And the partying and merriment continues on both boats.
It was a memorable day indeed for this lovelies.
Next day was the reception. It was held at the Grand Ballroom of the Marriott Grand Okanagan Resort. The setup and decor was flawless! It was setup by Jessie Khaira. She did an amazing job.
It was raining outside and we had to do a quick shoot for this good looking couple inside the ballroom. The newlyweds just take my breath away.
Soon after Paul and Rakhee made the entrance, there were the speeches and performances.
And of course, the couple's first dance.
And everyone started joining in.
It was still pouring outside and I had to grab this couple for another shot.
Paul and Rakhee, thank you so much for the amazing experience. It was a pleasure working with you guys, and I can't wait to see you again, be it in Edmonton or in Calgary. Hey Jamalo!
Thanks to them for making things easy for me:
